Ace Modena (2006)

The Ace range of motorhomes hailed from the Swift Group stable and were pitched as an affordable range of motorhomes on tried and tested layouts.  The Modena is a two berth Low Profile with a fixed double bed and manageable body length around the 6 metre mark.

Entering through the midships caravan door, the interior is bright and cheerful, helped by the Heki rooflight in the kitchen and seating area to your left, whilst the bedroom, with washroom adjacent, is to your right.  Immediately opposite the entrance door is the wardrobe, effectively separating the two zones.

Not everyone will like the view of the kitchen when sitting on the side seat, being the price to pay for the short overall length of the vehicle, whilst still employing a fixed double bed.  Both cab seats swivel, which helps to give some variety to the available seating.  There is reasonable storage space in lockers and under the bed, although kitchen storage isn’t fantastic.

The fixed bed is a decent size, with storage under, however the TV position over the bed is rather high up.  A separate shower cubicle is squeezed into the rear corner washroom.

Inevitably, there are some compromises in this layout, but what it achieves is comfortable seating and sleeping space in a shorter-than-average Low Profile.  The build may not be the highest, but neither will be the price.  The 2.3 JTD engine on the model viewed was easily powerful enough for the body.
